Minor in Economics
The undergraduate economics minor requires six courses (18 credits) in economics, including:
- ECON 102 - Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 103 - Principles of Macroeconomics
- ECON 302 - Intermediate Microeconomics
- ECON 303 - Intermediate Macroeconomics
- Two additional economics elective courses numbered 300 or above.
Minor in Economic Policy
The undergraduate minor in economic policy is intended for students who do not have the prerequisites for ECON 302 and 303 or the courses that require them, but still wish to improve their knowledge of policy-related economics. The minor in economic policy also requires six courses (18 credits) in economics, including:
- ECON 102 - Principles of Microeconomics
- ECON 103 - Principles of Macroeconomics
- Four additional economics elective courses numbered 300 or above.
Students getting a minor in economics may not also get a minor in economic policy. Students getting a minor in economic policy should meet with the minor advisor to choose their economics electives.
Why Minor in Economics?
An economics minor can augment your current major, and increase your chances of getting a job. Skills learned in economics can enhance a variety of degrees such as accounting, engineering, finance, marketing, geography, journalism, pre-law, and political science. Skills learned in economics can also assist individuals in obtaining good-paying jobs in business, health, consulting, law, banking, insurance, and government. Economics can extend your job opportunities and marketability.
