Prerequisites
The Faculty of Finance requires each new graduate student to satisfy the following MSF pre-enrollment
requirements:
- Proficiency in Mathematics and Statistics: Students should complete a basic calculus course
(equivalent to MATH 176) and a statistics of decision making course (equivalent to BADM 700) at the
college level within five years prior to enrollment in the MSF program.
- Proficiency in Accounting and Economics: Students should complete a basic financial reporting
and accounting course (equivalent to BADM 710) and an intermediate microeconomics course (equivalent
to ECON 302) at the college level within five years prior to enrollment in the MSF program.
- Spreadsheet Proficiency: Students should be knowledgeable of computer spreadsheet software,
such as Lotus 1-2-3 or Excel prior to enrollment in the MSF program.
- Proficiency in English: If an international student's verbal score on the GMAT, TOEFL, or other
evaluation measure is below an acceptable level, a student may be required to enroll in English
language development classes either prior to enrollment in the MSF program or during the first semester
of his/her academic program.
Specific Prerequisites
A bachelor degree in business or finance is not required for admission. Students without an undergraduate
degree in finance or business normally earn the MSF degree by completing the aforementioned set pre-core
courses.
